We visited Lost Pines in Bastrop for a mini vacation - we enjoyed some much needed family time. I could get used to the resort life - I locked my purse in the safe and didn't touch it for the whole weekend.
We headed out early evening Friday and had a dinner of champions at Hruskas... half way there:
As usual ... the best part of vacation is the hotel room. Here they are dive bombing the suitcases:
They really like resort life as well. They spent about 30 minutes adjusting all of our chairs and bringing us water from the self serve dispensers.
I read online that you can borrow bikes so I had the brilliant idea to bring our scooters. Genius, especially b/c the chances of having two of the right bikes in the right size available were slim. We spent 90% of the time on scooters ... which explains why the boys are wearing helmets in 90% of our pictures.

After a morning of scooter riding, we watched the Longhorns ride through the resort.
Look who was dying to ride the Longhorn! Ok, it was me ... but Andrew appeased me and came along for the ride:
Then he told me to get off so he could ride alone. The line for the "Bevo" Longhorn was huge so we settled for ole Rib Eye:
Eventually the boys will be able to take pics of us ... until then, here is a selfie:
We had a lot of fun with the crafts. Daniel painting a pumpkin:
It was acrylic paint; naturally, I was very concerned about getting paint on their new outfits! We also painted some pretty cool looking wooden snakes. Andrew painting his soccer ball bank... He found a coin as soon as we got home to start filling it. Yes, it looks like a giant black sphere.
Who says you need two ipads?! They share like champs.
We braved the pool; although, it was really cold! The lazy river looked so fun but we couldn't hack it. The weather was perfect outside... unless you wanted to go swimming. Next time! Here are the kids on the splash pad:

We got one family photo while roasting s'mores. Of course I didn't realize we were in front of a trash can and caution tape. Cute, otherwise!
Daniel loved the s'mores this time as long as he didn't have to get sticky. Andrew stuck to just chocolate and graham crackers. They were delicious and worth the trip alone!
After the s'mores we settled in for a movie on the lawn. We wrapped ourselves in towels and munched on popcorn:
Our last trip with just the four of us was about a year ago. It's amazing how things have changed since then. The boys were really easy going, old enough for many of the activities and the whining was minimal. As usual ... vacation makes me want to plan another vacation!
